Solstice Sound Temple - Jeffrey A. Mooney & Stephen Kent

In these times of darkness let us move towards the light once more! Immerse yourself in a transformative musical journey with multi-instrumental ritualists Jeffrey Alphonsus Mooney & Stephen Kent and be transported to a deeply rejuvenating state of mind. Tibetan bowls, bells, didgeridoos, percussion and other instruments of resonance create a sonic tapestry to uplift the spirit and Jeffrey will guide the group in vocal toning. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate the Winter Solstice. May music unify our spirit and soothe our soul!

Jeffrey Alphonsus Mooney: has been a multi-instrumentalist performing musician/ritualist and teacher based in the Bay Area, for 30 years. He has taught workshops and performed in various parts of the USA, Canada and Australia. Through his decades-long ritual work with Starhawk and the Reclaiming Collective, he is legendary with facilitating ecstatic group energy as well as real intimacy with his words and music. He received an “IZZY” award for his musical contribution to Sean Dorsey Dance company. He explores the transformational, healing power of music and resonanance, with various Tibetan bowls, bells, kalimba, flutes, middle-eastern frame drum, bass, and voice, hosting Sunday Sound Temple events for groups as well as special guided one on one “voyages”. He sees his approach to music as”practices of collective joy” and looks forward to meeting you!

Stephen Kent: A globally acclaimed player of the ancient Aboriginal Didjeridu for over 35 years Stephen Kent has pioneered its use in contemporary music across the world, blazing a unique trail both as a solo artist, and with band projects such as Trance Mission and Baraka Moon and collaborated with a diverse series of leading musicians including Brazil’s Arto Moreira, India’s Zakir Hussain, Doors Drummer John Densmore, American Indian flute legend R. Carlos Nakai, Tuva’s Chirgilchin to name a few. He has also played for The Dalai Lama and worked with legendary ethnobotanist Terrence McKenna. As a solo performer, he is a virtual one-man band, producing an extraordinary layering of sounds and grooves and creating an almost orchestral ambiance with this primal instrument, accompanying himself on all manner of shakers and hand percussion on musical journeys that travel deep into the heart of the earth. He also works with radio and has hosted Music of the World on KPFA 94.1fm since 1995.
